Our beloved grandfather, Poppy Sol, started this business in an open-air market. Three generations later, we’re still bringing smiles to our customers' faces.
Succulent and vibrant with just the right amount of tartness, Angelino Plums are a wonderful treat! Their vibrant color makes them one of the most fun dried fruits out there.
2. Dietary fiber is also classified as a type of plant carbohydrate that is not digested by humans. A serving of five dried plums provide three grams of dietary fiber. These carbohydrates including the sugars are "naturally occurring." There is no added sugar to dried plums.
3. Although dried plums contain carbohydrates, dried plums? main sugars are fructose, glucose and sorbitol. Dried plums have almost no sucrose. In addition, the dietary fiber in dried plums may help to modulate the body?s uptake of sugar in dried plums. The differences in the sugar profiles and the fiber in dried plums may help explain the moderate GI index.
4. Dried plums are a source of dietary fiber, sorbitol, potassium, copper, boron and phenolic compounds which are active in a web of interrelated physiological and health promoting functions. Together these compounds help regulate glucose metabolism, promote cardiovascular health, are involved in bone metabolism, protect against cancer, and contribute to digestion. (M. Stacewicz-Sapuntzakis, PhD., P. Bowen, PhD., RD, University of Illinois Chicago Functional Foods for Health Program literature search. 1999.)
5. Dried plums completely stopped and were able to reverse bone loss in an animal model of ovarian deficiency (a model for post-menopausal osteoporosis). The mechanism responsible for this is not known. Some speculate the mechanism might be related to the phenolic compounds, sorbitol, boron or dried plum?s ability to impact absorption of minerals. (B. Arjmandi, Ph.D., RD, Oklahoma State University, 1998.)v 6. In an animal model using ovariectomzied rats, dried plums suppressed the rise in serum cholesterol without affecting HDL (good) cholesterol associated with the onset of menopause. At menopause, women?s risk for coronary heart disease drastically increases due to ovarian hormone deficiency. Options for lowering cholesterol include a diet rich in plant fiber and other protective nutrients. (B. Arjmandi, Ph.D., RD, Oklahoma State University, 1998.)

“Really spectacular nuts (I got roasted/salted walnuts, Brazil nuts and hazelnuts) and wonderfully succulent Angelino plums - all delivered SUPER FAST!!!! And thanks for the sample cashews - my daughter will be beyond thrilled as they are her absolute favorite!”

“My first order from you. Salt free cashews for my Dad's birthday and pistachios shelled and unshelled for me plus a bag of Angelino plums. Oh my ,what a treat. I used some shelled pistachios in a bulgur tomato salad right away for dinner. Thank you for the salt free macadamia treat. The nuts are fresh and good. The Angelino plums tangy and sweet at the same time - so flavorful, never experienced before. A great gift for someone. Your packaging is so fun - 1 yummy pound. The packaging quips have me smile from the mailing box to the bag. I loved the white print of Nuts.com on the box. I touched it to see if it was painted on. The window nut figures on the bags are really cute as are the family member names and brief family history. Whoever put together your marketing did a really good job. I will order from you again for my mother's birthday. Your product is a gift one can be proud to give and a reasonably priced self indulgence. Plus really fast shipping . Thank you so much.”

“I never write testimonials...HOWEVER.... Nutsonline is incredible. Not only only are they fast as lightning, but they offer the most unusual items. I love the chili mangoes, dried angelino plums, wasabi peanuts, pontefract licorice coins, and have the jerky on order as I write this. I'm thinking that a gift certificate to nutsonline would be a great gift idea for the future.”

“I came here for the diced Papaya and decided to look around to see what else there might be. From there, I ordered also Diced Mango! (Who knew?), Dried Kiwi! and Angelino Plums.
I began eating Angelino Plums when I lived in Calgary AB and was delighted to find them locally in Pocatello. However, that source is intermittent and encouraged me to order from NutsOnline instead. You know what? I have never-never seen Angelino Plums as beautiful as these at NutsOnline.
You have a customer for life *and* I will pass on the word.
Thank you so much for doing what you do so well!”
