Crunchy, Flavorful Black Walnuts

When you want an intense nutty flavor paired with an amazingly satisfying crunch, few things compare to our big, rich black walnuts. These nuts arrive shelled and in chunky pieces that make one of the most decadent ice cream toppings. Our customers also love to eat these walnuts in salads, as an ingredient in baked goods or just by the raw handful.

If you want to add the luxurious flavor of these nuts to your favorite recipes that call for ordinary English walnuts, do so carefully. Black walnuts are much more potent, so it's best to either reduce the amount of nuts called for in the recipe or use a mixture of both walnut varieties.

Hand-Harvested, Shelled Black Walnuts

Getting these nuts to customers is truly a labor of love, as nearly every step in the cultivation, harvesting, hulling and final preparation of shelled black walnuts is still done by hand. The nuts fall naturally from the trees in late autumn, where they must be harvested directly from the forest floor. The green, messy hulls are then removed, the nuts are dried, the extra-tough nutshells are cracked and, finally, these delicacies can be plucked out.

When we buy black walnuts, we love to think about all the hands-on effort that it took to bring them to us. We hope you do, too!

Health Tips

Black Walnut Health Tips

If you're watching your cholesterol, these nuts can help make your diet a whole lot tastier. Black walnuts are very low in saturated fat, yet very high in polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, which are the good fats that can lower bad cholesterol while maintaining good cholesterol.

Adding a few of these nuts to any dish can help boost its protein, iron and fiber content without adding sugar. They also make a nutritionally similar substitute for the tree nuts that are enjoyed in the now-popular and healthy Mediterranean diets.

You can even eat black walnuts for better overall cardiovascular health, as they contain large amounts of omega-3 fats, which help support cardiovascular function.

“Unlike the black walnuts I ordered elsewhere which were little tiny bits, your product was large pieces (as black walnuts go!). I was pleased with the size, freshness, and prompt shipping.

“When I placed my order for 2 pounds of black walnuts on Tuesday morning, I did not really believe that you could deliver them by the next day, as your e-mail indicated was likely. The weather did not bode well for that: it snowed all day Tuesday, dumping about 9 inches of heavy snow by late afternoon. But my black walnuts arrived safely on Wednesday afternoon! I immediately opened a bag and that wonderful black walnut aroma just poured out of the bag. Wow! And they taste just like I remembered from years and years ago. Fantastic!

Many thanks for selling me these superb black walnuts and for the amazingly prompt service. I will tell my friends about you folks, I will be ordering again (and also have my eye on some pecans and other nuts) and the black walnuts you sent me are going to be used mostly in some pies and cooking I will be baking later this month. (I have already downloaded some recipes to try!) But some will be snacks: they are just so good!

“These are highly beneficial for blood type B.
They are not easy to find. None of my local healthy food stores stock them. These prices are cheaper than ebay!! I became a believer of the Eat Right 4 For Your Blood Type after I was able to stop a blood pressure medicine after 16 days of changing my diet. Of course, I got my Dr's approval before stopping the medication. Thanks for your great site.”

“On my recent, and first, order for black walnuts...I was really pleasantly surprised with the very quick service. The shipment arrived within 3 days of the order and was packaged beautifully. The bags in which the nuts arrived are able to be Zipped closed. a good way to retain freshness.
I'll be a continuing customer.”

“Wow !!! You guys are great !!!! That was soooooo fast. I was not expecting it this quickly. Thank you sooooo much. I grew up on Black Walnuts and out here they are not easy to find. My aunt and uncle had them growing in their yard up north, but they have moved. I thought I would give the internet a try and there you were. Again, thank you soooo much. Take care and have a wonderful Holiday........Sincerely,”

“Having grown up with black walnuts many decades ago,,understanding the entire process, knowing how very special they are, it has been pure pleasure putting them into smaller packages this afternoon, trying not to nibble too many. A very wonderful treat. Thank you.very much. Good Luck! ”
