Organic acai powder (freeze-dried) is made from acai berries, super fruits with tremendous health benefits. Acai berries have more antioxidants than almost any other fruit and contain high levels of fatty acids, amino acids, and dietary fiber. The acai palm (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) is native to the tropical Amazon regions of Brazil and Peru. Fresh acai berries look like a cross between blueberries and grapes, and have historically been a large part of the diets of many poor and indigenous Brazilians. Since acai berries were first brought to the United States early last decade, their growing popularity has been a source of prosperity and sustainability to many regions of Brazil.

The main reason for acai berries' popularity is their extraordinary nutritional benefits. Full of antioxidants, acai berries have tested very well at combating free radicals. They contain high levels of the fatty acids, oleic acid and omega-6, as well as fiber and protein. As acai palms are difficult to grow outside of the Amazon and the berries are highly perishable, acai is normally found only in powder form. A large part of the berries' nutrient content is preserved in the freeze drying process.
