Boiled Peanuts

Order now, we'll ship monday, may 20

Boiled peanuts are a tasty snack and a favorite food of the South. Their distinct salty taste comes from boiling green peanuts, still in the shell, in salt water. The boiling process releases flavors and nutrients from the peanut shell, making the nuts soft, fresh, and flavorful. Our boiled peanuts are canned only hours after being picked, so they retain their delicious taste.

Boiled peanuts have been a cultural tradition of the Southern United States since at least the Civil War, when Confederate soldiers would use salt water to boil and preserve the "goober peas" they were given as rations. Today, these peanuts are still extremely popular in the South, and were even proclaimed the official snack food of South Carolina in 2006. During the summer months, families, neighbors, and friends throughout the South often gather to boil peanuts together and enjoy them outdoors over a cold drink.

Our boiled peanuts come from the popular Margaret Holmes Peanut Patch brand, in 7.5 oz dried weight cans (these used to be called Roddenberry). To enjoy the boiled peanuts, drain the brine from the can and shell the peanuts. For extra flavor, try heating the peanuts in the liquid after opening the can. Boiled Peanuts Health Bits & Bites 1. Breaking News from Alabama A&M University's Department of Food and Animal Sciences... A new study by a group of Huntsville researchers found that boiled peanuts bring out up to four times more chemicals that help protect against disease than raw, dry or oil-roasted nuts. These phytochemicals have antioxidant qualities that protect cells against the risk of degenerative diseases, including cancers, diabetes and heart disease.

2. Boiled Peanuts contain resveratol, a plant chemical also found in red wine, which studies have shown to have a protective effect against cancer and heart disease.

3. Major studies have found eating peanuts can lower the risk of heart disease, cut the risk of diabetes and assist dieters.

4. Boiled peanuts are loaded with many vitamins and minerals and are high in plant protein. Also, the fat content is primarily monounsaturated and polyunsaturated.

“Hi there Nutty Buddies! I received my Boiled Peanuts today. Yay!! And the free Pistachio nuts. What a nice surprise! I'm really excited to have Boiled Peanuts again. It's been awhile. Yrs ago when I was a teen, I first discovered them traveling to AZ with my Mom. I found them at Stucky's on the way out there. I don't know if you are familiar with them. They had a gas station, gift shop and restaurant. And they were along Interstates. I had to be sure and get some when we would go. One yr my Mom had even ordered me a case from somewhere in the south for Christmas. ha! That was a pretty neat gift.
I can't find them around here. Our local store had them for a very very short time. Alot of people here aren't really familiar with boiled peanuts.
I know where I can get some now. The ordering process was easy and quick. I received a confirmation/tracking email. So then I knew when to watch for it. And my order came when they said it would. Thank you!!”
