Our beloved grandfather, Poppy Sol, started this business in an open-air market. Three generations later, we’re still bringing smiles to our customers' faces.
Dried mission figs are a bit smaller and sweeter than the Calimyrna variety. Also known as Black mission figs, they have a deep purple skin that appears black when dried, and a slight pinkish hue on the inside. The name “mission figs” comes from the Franciscan missionaries who planted them throughout California in the late 18th century. Mission figs are an excellent source of fiber, potassium, and other minerals.
Health Benefits of Mission Figs
Mission figs are an excellent source of dietary fiber in both soluble and insoluble forms. A single serving of these delicious fruits provides 20 percent of the average person’s daily value for dietary fiber. As a good source of both soluble and insoluble fiber, mission figs offer many health benefits. The soluble fiber content helps lower LDL “bad” cholesterol levels and regulate blood sugar, while insoluble fiber keeps the digestive tract running smoothly. Fiber also slows the digestion of carbohydrates in the body, supporting the absorption of other key nutrients.
Chock-full of minerals like potassium, calcium, and iron, mission figs are a healthy treat all around. Potassium aids heart function by helping the heart beat normally, and regulates high blood pressure by keeping sodium levels in check. As a good source of calcium, mission figs provide a nutrient that promotes strong bones and teeth. Calcium needs to be obtained daily since our bodies do not produce it naturally. Mission figs are also high in iron, which helps the body form hemoglobin so that cells have enough oxygen to function.
Ways to Enjoy Mission Figs
A serving of mission figs is one of the healthiest ways to satisfy a sweet craving. We love enjoying this delicious dried fruit on its own, as well as adding it to some of our favorite recipes. The next time you’re entertaining guests, we recommend serving dried mission figs with other dried fruits, nuts, and cheese for an enticing appetizer platter. Try chopping a few figs and tossing them over salads and pastas. They’ll add a pleasant flavor and texture to your dishes. Mission figs are also delicious in baked treats such as breads, muffins, and scones.

“I just received my package, thank you! The figs are AMAZING! Living in southern Iowa it is almost impossible to get fresh figs but these are close. Without a doubt, they are the best dried fig I have ever tasted, thank you. And the chia seeds, what a treat! I had no idea healthy could taste so good. Thanks for the tasty stuff, the prompt delivery and the very careful packaging. You will be seeing more of me!”

“I bought the dried mission figs to make Fig Balsamic and just recently made it. Of course I nibbled on the figs , discovered how insanely "figgy" and moist they are, and was almost sorry I was going to puree them! So, I made a smaller batch than intended, just so I could eat some more figs! The delivery time is crazy, and the customer service is the best anywhere by any company!

“My first order arrived on time, in perfect condition, and WHAT a difference from grocery store quality! The mission figs, currants, and pitted dates were plump, moist, and marvelous flavor. Never again will I settle for the tired old stuff I used to have to include in my Christmas fruitcakes. I am thrilled to have found this website! ”
