100% Matcha Green Tea Powder
Our 100% GRADE A Premium Usacha Matcha Green Tea Powder is imported from Shizuoka, Japan. Matcha is the tea used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies.
Matcha is a high-quality green tea powder with a fine texture. Its tea leaves are grown only in Japan and are shielded from sunlight several weeks before harvest. This causes the leaves to darken and produce higher levels of amino acids. After the best tea leaves are picked, they are dried out and ground manually to a fine powder on a stone mill to protect the nutrients in the leaves.
Matcha tea powder was first cultivated by Japanese Zen priests, who developed rituals incorporating matcha. During Japanese tea ceremonies, participants prepare matcha green tea in a series of choreographed steps to achieve beauty, tranquility, and enlightenment. Matcha is the only tea used in these ceremonies, which can range from formal to social.
Matcha For Your Health
Many people drink green tea for its health benefits or to lose weight, but matcha does much more than this. Matcha green tea powder contains more antioxidants than virtually any other food, including acai berries and pomegranates. It also contains high levels of L-theanine, an amino acid which lowers stress levels but preserves alertness. The L-theanine counteracts the caffeine in the tea, making matcha ideal for creating a mental state of relaxed alertness.
Since matcha leaves are grown in the shade and protected from sunlight, matcha boasts the richest source of chlorophyll compared to all other teas. Chlorophyll is a powerful cleansing and detoxifying agent that helps rid the body of heavy metals and other toxins. It is also responsible for the powder's signature verdant color.
Green tea is a uniquely rich source of catechins, a group of antioxidants that protect cells from disruption by free radicals. The oxidative damage caused to normal cells by free radicals has been linked to chronic conditions like cancer, heart disease, and degenerative diseases related to aging. The most prominent catechin found in matcha tea is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), an even more potent form of antioxidant than Vitamin C or E. Matcha powder contains a more highly concentrated form of EGCG than its loose leaf tea counterpart.
Taste and Uses
Due to its high levels of amino acids, matcha green tea has a deep and complex taste, initially bitter but with a sweet aftertaste. Aside from tea, matcha green tea powder can also be used for making green tea yogurt, green tea ice cream, or any other desserts or treats that call for green tea.
To make matcha green tea, simply blend 0.5-1 teaspoon of 100% matcha powder and a small amount of hot water with a spoon to make a smooth paste. Add more water and sweetener as desired. Or, using a traditional bamboo whisk, put 0.5-1 teaspoon of 100% matcha powder in a large cup or a drinking bowl and add a small amount of hot water. Whisk in a quick, light zig-zag motion until a layer of green froth appears on the surface. Add more water if desired. 100% matcha powder can be used for thin or thick matcha. The ideal water temperature for 100% matcha green tea is 150-180 degrees Fahrenheit.

“I recently found out that Mr Suzuki stopped farming his grean tea in Japan and it was my favorite grean tea powder; so it will no longer be available! I'm not kidding! So I decided to try the 100% matcha grean tea powder from you based on the outstanding reviews I read! And wow I was so glad I did! The matcha is delicious and smooth with no bitterness! For the money I was not expcecting it to be 1/2 this good! Thanks to everyone that reviewed this product because without you I wouldn't have given it a try because the price made me think it wasn't quality stuff! I will certainly purchase this again! And I don't know how it was delivered so quickly!!! Literally, under 24 hours!”

“My order arrived as scheduled, intact, and the product inside was packaged well in resealable packages. Each package has a different color and that helps me identify them on the shelf.
The dried tomatoes are great, tender with a little saltiness.
The matcha green tea powder is a lovely color with a pleasantly strong grassy aroma and flavor.
The chorella Powder is as it should be a little musty smelling, but perfectly within its norm and so dark green it is almost navy - fresh.
The organic Maca Powder is strong and may take some getting used to, so I am cutting back to half strength in drinks until I aquire a taste, but it is nice and unnoticeable in my maple oatmeal.
Thanks nuts.com. You will see me again.

“This is my second time ordering from Nuts.com and like before, they have not let me down! I got both the 100% Matcha and the Regular Matcha green tea powder on another customer's suggestion/review of using 1:1 for a not as sweet blended drink, (especially since I use soy milk.) Definitely LOVE it! I can't wait to start baking with the 100% Matcha. What should I buy next???”
