Our beloved grandfather, Poppy Sol, started this business in an open-air market. Three generations later, we’re still bringing smiles to our customers' faces.
Chlorella (Chlorella Vulgaris) is an emerald green, single-celled freshwater algae that grows naturally in lakes and ponds. Ours is cultivated in a closed sterilized indoor facility. One of the best superfoods, chlorella is packed with nearly ten times the healthy chlorophyll of similar greens like wheat grass, barley and alfalfa. In fact, chlorella's name comes from its high amount of chlorophyll, an important nutrient for cleansing your body.
Our chlorella powder is at least 60% crude protein and is also a complete protein, which means it contains a full balance of all nine essential amino acids. The nutritional benefits of chlorella go on and on--taking a chlorella supplement will boost your daily intake of: Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Vitamin A, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E.
We have organic chlorella powder, too!
Chlorella: Our Registered Dietitian's Top Pick
Our Health Nut and Registered Dietitian likes to add chlorella to green juice for a boost of protein and iron. Just 0.4 ounces of chlorella has 6 grams of protein and 72% of the daily value for iron.
Health Benefits of Chlorella
1. Chlorella is a Natural Detoxifying Agent If you're looking for a natural way to cleanse and detoxify, adding a small amount of this potent powder to your daily diet is an easy way to start. The fibrous cell walls of these green algae are believed to bind to heavy metals, synthetic chemicals and other toxins, making it easy to expel these contaminants from the body. It can also promote a healthy balance of natural bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract. This, in turn, may help soothe ulcers, constipation and other intestinal issues.
Toxins are absorbed into chlorella's fibrous cell walls, but our bodies have a difficult time breaking down the indigestible cell walls. The best chlorella products-like our powder-have cracked cell walls to give your body its treasure trove of protein, minerals, and Vitamin A, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E.
2. Chlorella has Superfood Powers: While it's still catching on in the West, this potent microorganism is taken as regularly in Japan as Vitamin C is taken in the US. Chlorella is lauded in Japanese medicine for its immune system boosters, hypertension relief, and infection-fighting power.
How to Use Chlorella in Your Diet
Chlorella is Versatile and Easy to Use: It's easily included in your everyday foods ranging from drinks such as smoothies to guacamole dip. Start off by stirring one or two teaspoons of chlorella powder into your daily smoothie, salad dressing, glass of juice or any other food or liquid. Don't worry about chlorella's taste overpowering your dishes; its taste is similar to green tea and is hardly distinguishable when added to foods. Look for more creative uses for chlorella powder in the right hand bar – recipes include chlorella salad dressing and green eggs and ham! You'll barely taste it in your food, but chlorella will be doing your body a world of wonders!
What Experts Say About Chlorella Benefits
Dr. Oz from the Dr. Oz Show: "Chlorella...acts as an efficient detoxification agent by binding to toxins, such as mercury, in your body and carrying them out of your system. It is the chlorophyll in chlorella that makes it so powerful, as chlorophyll helps you process more oxygen, cleanses your blood and promotes the growth and repair of your tissues."
Muscle Works Magazine: "Chlorella has a strengthening effect on the immune system. It is known to increase production of antibodies that fight infection. This includes the production of interferon, the body's natural weapon against destructive cancer cells. Chlorella allows the body to cope with the onslaught and maintain strength, improving the patient’s chances of fighting cancer."
Rachel Venokur-Clark, certified holistic health counselor: "Chlorella may stimulate the growth of healthy intestinal flora, aiding in digestion, preventing constipation and reducing symptoms of chronic illnesses including diverticulitis and Crohn's disease."
How Our Chlorella is Made
Our chlorella is the Vulgaris variety grown in Gunsan, S. Korea. It is grown in heterotrophic tanks and has a thinner cell wall than chlorella grown in outdoor ponds. This makes chlorella easier for our bodies to break down. The heterotrophic tank is thoroughly sterilized and controlled from start to end and results in a top quality product.
During the heating and cooling process of transforming chlorella into powder, the thin cell wall splits naturally instead of being harshly cracked or broken. This natural way of cracking the cell releases the nutrients needed for more efficient digestion than if the wall was forcibly cracked. Our chlorella is non-irradiated and has a growth factor of more than .4 absorbency. It is also non-GMO (Genetically Modified Organism).

“I just ordered from Nuts Online for the second time and I'm even more impressed with the efficiency of ordering and lightning quick shipments. Even if their prices for all items weren't the best online or in stores (which they are by the way) I would still order from them. You can't beat customer service these days and this family owned company is the absolute best. Thanks AGAIN.”

“Great quality Chlorella! A little challenging dealing with such a fine powder in a bag vs a bottle. I quickly learned to open the bag very carefully next time so there won't be a cloud of algae everywhere...”
