Granulated Alum powder might just be Nuts.com's most versatile product. Although alum powder is most commonly used in pickling recipes, to keep pickles crispy, our customers have found dozens of other alum powder uses, including: tanning hides, dying and coloration, papermaking, medicine, animal care, personal hygiene, soil treatment, and even water purification.

Also known as aluminum sulfate or powdered alum, alum powder gained some spotlight on the TV show Looney Toons, where characters would use it to shrink each others' heads. In fact, alum powder is an astringent, meaning that it can shrink body tissues (although certainly not heads). This is why alum powder is sometimes used as an aftershave or to treat canker sores. Our alum powder is pure, granulated, and very useful!

“Thank you so much! The real reason for my order was for alum so my dad could tan an animal hide. While exploring your website, I saw all the wonderful treats you have, and also ended up ordering chocolate covered orange peal for my mom and Finnish licorice for my dad. They arrived today (your shipping is very fast), and Mom and Dad loved their unexpected treats, saying they both taste fantastic!!! I'll definitely be ordering from you again!”

“I'm very pleased with your low prices and extremely fast delivery! ”

“ Yes the package did arrive. Now I need to scrape the hide(fleshing out) and get the solution of salt water and alum to soak the hide(a tanning process). The alum helps the hair stay on the hide- which is technically called a pelt. Your company was the first one I found that I could purchase the quantity I needed. Thanks.”

“Did you know that you can get rid of ticks by feeding powdered alum to horses every day, just 1/4 teaspoon will do it. And that sample of the cereal was awsome!

“We are SO thankful that you had the Powered Alum in bulk! We have a different use for it than you probably imagine...We have a older horse that has founder, we were told if we give him 3 tablespoons of it a day his sore feet will get better. We were getting the 2 oz. jars at the store and saw improvement but was SO expensive to buy it that way. That's when we found you online. Now we can get it in bulk so he will be much better soon!Even with the cost of shipping it is worth it to make him feel better! And LOVED the almonds you sent as a gift!”
