Granulated Alum powder might just be Nuts.com's most versatile product. Although alum powder is most commonly used in pickling recipes, to keep pickles crispy, our customers have found dozens of other alum powder uses, including: tanning hides, dying and coloration, papermaking, medicine, animal care, personal hygiene, soil treatment, and even water purification.

Also known as aluminum sulfate or powdered alum, alum powder gained some spotlight on the TV show Looney Toons, where characters would use it to shrink each others' heads. In fact, alum powder is an astringent, meaning that it can shrink body tissues (although certainly not heads). This is why alum powder is sometimes used as an aftershave or to treat canker sores. Our alum powder is pure, granulated, and very useful!

Julianna, PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania July 7, 2011

“This was pretty crazy. I only stumbled on this site by luck, trying to find Alum. I figured it'd be easy since it used to be in all the cupboards from Tom & Jerry cartoons, but no one has ever heard of it. That aside, I'm impressed by the product line. I got my order in ONE DAY and I love the little cartoon nuts on the box arguing over which side to open first. This is a really great operation.”

Tim, Red Bank, New Jersey July 1, 2011

“Are you NUTS?? I LOVE IT!! Yes, I received my order and I'm extremely happy with both the price and the speed in shipping. Most of all, I like the attitude of your company in dealing with people. Many Thanks, Rufus P.”
