Our beloved grandfather, Poppy Sol, started this business in an open-air market. Three generations later, we’re still bringing smiles to our customers' faces.
Sometimes called shell beans, these cranberry beans are not just beautiful to look at, they are delicious to eat. Great with pasta or sauteed with diced tomatoes cranberry beans have a unique slightly nutty taste. They make excellent beans in soups and stews.
For basic preparation, Presoak beans over night. cover beans with water in a 3 - 4 quart pan, bring to a boil and simmer for 15 - 20 minutes. When done, drain and season with salt and freshly ground pepper. They can be served hot with butter or olive oil, but are particularly good served at room temperature with olive oil, lemon juice and chopped fresh parsley. This is similar to the way beans are served in Italy as part of an antipasto tray and makes a great addition to a mix of cheeses, olives and sausages for an appealing appetizer.

“Wow - they were on my doorstep yesterday when I came home! I was so excited - as we cannot buy cranberry beans anymore - anywhere! So, I immediately soaked them overnight - and today, we are having them for lunch. This is a Dutch recipe. Called Brown Beans. Would you like to have it? If so, I will send it on. They are delicious - I can't wait. Your beans are the freshest I have ever had - as they cooked up the fastest ever!! Thanks - I'm so glad I found your website!

“We ordered dried cranberry beans for my Mom's best friend since 1937. She received the beans and absolutely loved the packaging: she was laughing and described the box in detail, and the handwritten note included. Maryann is 90 yrs old and the present of beans and packaging made her day joyful. Thank you! Happiness to you, Pauli, Susi and Gary”
